Neuroscience Research Scientist - Brain & Spine - Kettering - Part-Time - Days

The Neuroscience Research Scientist will lead and support physician-led multiple translational research projects and in the field of neurosurgery, neurology, pain management, and behavioral health. Performs other duties as assigned

Responsibilities & Requirements

  • Prepare, review, and assist with design and conduct of scientific physiological neuroscience research focusing on health and outcomes
  • Utilize human models to evaluate the short and long-term health effects of medical interventions
  • Assist investigators in the design and execution of research protocols on physiology and outcomes
  • Collect physiology and behavior data from human subjects
  • Operate and maintain standard and specialized equipment to assess outcomes of interventions
  • Assist with data/statistical analysis
  • Prepare, review, and submit the development of technical reports, presentations, and publications
  • Assist with the development of proposal applications for other physiological, psychological, medical, and outcome studies
  • Collaborate with the Innovations department in bringing industry-sponsored trials.
  • Coordinate communication between physicians, nursing, Innovations department and administration on research projects
  • Lead study development, IRB proposal and coordinate approval process of projects.  

Skills

 

  • An established track record of participating in multidisciplinary team-based collaborations.
  • Ability to bring in co-collaborators including outside experts
  • Working knowledge of research methodology
  • Ability to write and apply for funding grants
  • Provide advanced level research, clinical and administrative support for research study including preparing and presenting presentations, analyzing and interpreting data, collaborating with principal investigator on manuscripts, scientific articles.
  • Must have the ability to work independently without supervision and report in a matrix reporting relationship.
  • Must possess the ability to plan, implement and sustain change.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred Certified Clinical Research Professional or similar
  • This position requires a Master’s degree or PhD in the field of physiology or human biology with a preference for neuroscience emphasis.
