Responsibilities & Requirements

Job Title: Pharmacy Billing Specialist 

Collaborative Pharmacy Services- Long Term Care Pharmacy 

Reports To: Manager of Pharmacy 

 

 

SUMMARY: 

The Pharmacy Billing Specialist is responsible for reviewing claims, unit dose billing, processing EFT’s and payments. Billing Coordinator will generate monthly invoices for all facilities and private pay patients. Additionally, the Billing Coordinator is key contact to facilities and patients for billing questions. 

 

MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

Process EFT’s 

Process payments 

Unit-dose billing 

Fix insurance rejections 

Process patient payer changes 

Balance A//R 

Generate monthly billing for facilities and patients 

Generate end of month reports for facilities 

Generate end of month reports for finance team 

Contact facilities for late payments 

Upload file to third party for private pay statement mailing 

Answer facility and patient billing questions and resolve any issues

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Education and Experience

 

General knowledge of Medicare D Insurance, Medicare A, Accounting, Third Party Processing and/or Pharmacy Operations.

Preferred health care, medicare and or pharmacy experience related to billing, claims and customer service

High School Diploma 

National Pharmacy Technician Certification, ideal but not required 

Registered Technician with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, ideal but not required 

Accurate and detail oriented 

Basic computer skills - Ability to use Microsoft Office 

Exemplary communication skills and customer focus is a must 

Ability to create positive impressions and communicate with a variety of people 

Personable and courteous working relationships 

Must have a very positive demeanor with co-workers and customers 

Ability to multi-task and prioritize 

Communicates effectively with team members 

Strong interpersonal and effective communication skills
