Responsibilities & Requirements
The Histotechnician prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examination, supporting accurate diagnosis and effective patient care. This role ensures high-quality slide preparation through precise tissue processing, staining, and documentation, while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Performs other duties as assigned. All job responsibilities are to be carried out in alignment with Kettering Health's mission, vision, values, and B Safe program. High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in histotechnology or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of experience in a clinical or research laboratory setting performing histology procedures. Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or eligibility to obtain within 12 months of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences or a related discipline. Two or more years of experience in histology, including proficiency in advanced staining techniques such as immunohistochemistry. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) by ASCP.
